Not to criticize, but Trump didn’t want an actual investigation. Because, obviously, if there had been an investigation, it would have happened in Ukraine……and few Americans would know about it, and even fewer would care.
What Trump REALLY wanted was for President Zelinskyy to come to Washington, and announce, live on TV, that Ukraine was going to conduct an investigation. This announcement would, of course, have received a lot more media coverage, and thus would have done a lot more damage to Biden’s campaign.
Unfortunately for Trump, Mr. Zelenskyy said no. Because, unlike Trump, Mr. Zelenskyy is a man of integrity.
He’s also a lot smarter than Trump. Which is not all that difficult.
