Treason is extremely difficult to prove. and very likely can’t be proven. However, certain other serious felonies, such as sedition, are relatively easy to prove.
What’s more, despite the fact that certain individuals have refused to cooperate with the Select Committee, by simply ignoring subpoenas, it will be far less simple if an indictment is ultimately handed down by a grand jury. In that case, a refusal to cooperate could, itself, be used as evidence of certain other felonies, among them conspiracy and obstruction of justice.
Many rank-and-file Republicans are brashly insisting this will all come to a screeching halt, come November. But, as you may have noticed, more knowledgeable Republicans are being a whole lot more coy. They know full well that, if and when the ball gets rolling, trying to stop it could do considerable harm, and precious little good.
We can see right through you. You speak a lot of mumbo jumbo. No one believes what your spewing.
The problem is that NO evidence exists to prove that Trump offered to send any National Guard troops to the Capitol. He says so, but that’s not proof. Mark Meadows is the only other person who makes this claim, but he does so vaguely, and in the passive voice; for example, he’ll say “the offer was made, but it wasn’t accepted” instead of “Trump made the offer, and it was refused.” Stated as such, it provides just enough legal cover for Meadows to be able to say later, if necessary, that he was simply mistaken.
Certain others, who would certainly know whether it actually happened, are even more vague, choosing their words with great care. They scrupulously avoid saying anything that might be challenged later as being untrue, or, worse, used as evidence in a possible criminal proceeding. These are the ones who truly bear watching, because they realize that this possibility is very real indeed. This is why relatively few of Trump’s inner circle dare to even broach the subject.
The known evidence suggests that no such offer was ever made, but only Trump has the audacity to continue to claim that it did, and in so many words. And though avowed Trumpian acolytes, such as Sean Hannity, continue to boldly say so, his saying so proves absolutely nothing.
The fact is, if anyone had actual proof, someone would actually prove it. The fact that no one has, frankly, speaks for itself.
